Subjects
Assignments support mastering the California standards for sixth grade. In each subject, there are deliverables (portfolios, essays, posters, charts, etc.) to turn in for grades showing the work accomplished, as well as the scores on quizzes and tests to make up the grades.
In addition to 45 minutes per day of study and homework on academic subjects (Writing, Reading, Math, History, Science), each student should read independently up to 65 minutes per day. That independent reading should be on something of interest to the student; however, not counting reading and studying of textbooks as part of the independent reading. NOTE: reading of words as part of sentences is what is important; anime books, ‘I Spy’ books, and animal books only count for reading time is it is genuinely reading sentences continuously.
