Mister Walter Roach has been an elementary school teacher in Evergreen School District since 1997. He has taught 5th grade, 5th/6th combinations, 4th grade, 4th/5th combinations, and currently teaches sixth grade at Norwood Creek School. Prior to that, he taught at Overfelt Family Vertical Slice for 3 years in various capacities, especially supporting teachers with implementing technology into instruction as a Technology Learning Coordinator. His initial teaching experience was a 3/4 combination bilingual transition class (Spanish/English) at A. J. Dorsa Elementary in Alum Rock School District. Before moving to teaching as a career shift, Mister Roach spent 25 years in the hospitality industry, with the last 7 as a food facilities designer.

Mister Roach is married to Mrs. Debbie Roach, who is the principal at Parkview Elementary School, in the Oak Grove School District. This summer we celebrate being married for 38 years. We enjoy camping in our TrailManor 2720SL RV trailer when we get the opportunity. This past summer, we visited 11 western states in 22 days, driving north through Oregon to Washington, then across Idaho to Montana. Then we spent several days visiting Yellowstone National Park and the Tetons in Wyoming before driving south past the Great Salten Sea in Utah, Canyonlands, Arches, and on into Durango, Colorado. We then briefly visited New Mexico and the Ancient Pueblo sites, past Shiprock to Lake Powell, and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. By way of Las Vegas, so we could count Nevada, we ended up in the high desert of Southern California before driving back home on I-5.

During the Christmas holiday, Mister Roach puts on the red suit and appears as Santa for various places and events. He is an avid reader, with an extensive personal library filling one wall in the home office. Additionally, he enjoys woodworking in his workshop. He has made cabinets, tables, shelves, a loft ladder, and other wood projects.
